Our delightful self-catering holiday cottage is converted from a former stable and situated in a beautiful quiet position adjacent to the owner’s farmhouse on a working organic dairy and sheep farm. The "Old Stable" is less than a mile from the historic village of Slaidburn in the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire.

 This property is extremely comfortable and is furnished to a high standard both outside and in and has achieved an English Tourist Council 4 Star rating. It provides excellent holiday or weekend break accommodation for up to 8 guests

 The stable has been thoughtfully renovated incorporating as much of the original beams and features as possible. One double room and shower room are situated on the ground floor and are therefore ambulant disabled-friendly.

 Nestling in the Forest of Bowland this is an ideal base for the walker, fisherman, cyclist or birdwatcher with plenty of local country walks and routes with open moors and fells within easy reach. There are mountain bike tracks in Gisburn Forest and local bike hire. Superb fly-fishing is available at the nationally renowned Stocks Fly Fishery, which is just a short walk from the cottage. For the tourist the Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and West Coast resorts are all easily accessible within 1 hour along scenic roads for a day trip.

 Slaidburn has a village store with a wide range of goods and services including Post Office. There is also the local pub, the "Hark to the Bounty” with excellent food and fine traditional and modern ales

If you would like to stay in luxurious rural accommodation only a mile from the M65 but set in glorious countryside then Dam Head Farm is the place for you. In the village of Roughlee, Dam Head Farm is an ideal spot for tourists to Pendle including walkers and cyclists but also for local businesses looking to accommodate visiting personnel.

We offer a range of accommodation from 'boutique' style B&B - in the grade 11 listed Dam Head Barn - to the luxurious 2 bedroomed Blacksmith's Cottage. In addition from May 2011 we are offering the Garden Studio - a double room with bathroom ensuite and a kitchenette for those who prefer some independence.

Dam Head Barn is a 400 year old, listed barn, which has been converted with integrity and a love of old buildings by the owners. The barn is attached to the original farmhouse of Dam Head Farm, and is set in open gardens. We have 3 double rooms which offer lovely accommodation - the latest is a brand new garden studio which accommodates 2 people but also is big enough for a pull out bed.

Blacksmith's Cottage offers the best in self-contained accommodation. Split over two floors this rural gem is full of exposed beams and wonderful character. On the ground floor is a beautifully appointed lounge with log burner and fully fitted dining kitchen. A solid oak staircase leads to a gallery landing with two double rooms sharing one bathroom with walk in shower.

We can accommodate 10-16 people and also have a purpose built cycle store, BBQ facilities and extensive gardens to relax and enjoy.

Our location speaks for itself -Roughlee, sits at the foot of the majestic Pendle Hill, within the Forest of Bowland area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) and only a mile from the village of Barrowford which is an excellent shipping centre packed with individual food, wine and fashion shops - not to be found in the usual high streets!

In addition the surrounding area is excellent for a variety of tastes and interests - historic Market Towns, canals, art galleries, museums and a treasure trove for shopping with a whole array of mills shops on the doorstep. For those looking to wine and dine we have our share of pub restaurants and Michelin Start restaurants in the vicinity.
